This weekend members of the MSCA will be at the Midsouthcon in Memphis, TN. The MSCA will have a table set up at the con, and several members will have art in the art show and/or be on panels discussing cartooning, comics, and more over the weekend. Yesterday, Friday the 13th proved to be a very lucky day for former Memphian and MSCA member Mike Norton! Mike won an Eisner award for his webcomic “Battlepug” at the 24th annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. The trio recently started a new candy business by becoming a Candy Bouquet franchise. The Southaven Candy Bouquet started up in August and serves most of DeSoto County, . . . The publisher’s October solicitations, released this week, reveal that Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam will end with Issue 21 and Batman: The Brave and the Bold with Issue 22. BILLY BATSON AND THE MAGIC OF SHAZAM #21 Former Memphian and MSCA member Mike Norton is the current artist on Billy . . . Escape From The Asylum is an art show inspired by the Batman comics and features work by artists Jamond Bullock, John Bullock, Patrick Tabor, Joseph Boyd, and Tony Brown.
