Time to dust off your costumes, break out those sketchbooks, and bag up your comics- it’s con season again! There’s lots to see and do this year, and lots of it is local- or just a tank of gas away. First up is the Metropolis Super Con in Metropolis, IL March 5&6, 2011. . . . Today’s DeSoto Appeal features MSCA’s Jane Shenks (mother of Ronnie Shenks and DC Comics artist Dave Beaty) and her sister-in-laws Becky White and Rosa Alford. The trio recently started a new candy business by becoming a Candy Bouquet franchise. The Southaven Candy Bouquet started up in August and serves most of DeSoto County, . . . ‘Peanuts’ gang sold to Joe Boxer owner for $175M You’ve got a new owner, Charlie Brown. Newspaper publisher E.W. Scripps Co. is selling licensing rights for Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the “Peanuts” gang to Iconix Brand Group Inc., the licensing company that owns Joe Boxer and London Fog.
