What better way to start the weekend of fireworks to celebrate America’s birthday than to meet your fellow ink slingers (or cursor movers) at the monthly MSCA Dinner Meeting, 7 pm, at Garibaldi’s Pizza on Walker Ave.  The date is July 1, so come on down!  Bring your art to show, come to discuss your projects or pimp your wares…should be fun!

Hi, Gang,

You’ll remember that the MSCA purchased a brick to support the Noel Neill statue in Metropolis, IL.  Here, in this link shared by Lin Workman, you can see more about the statue:

Check it out!

Metropolis’ Noel Neil Statue Unveiling is featured on CNN.com!

And if you scroll down on that page (or go to the following link), to the right, you will see a short article and great photos of Andrew Chandler in his Doomsday costume with Josh Boultinghouse, the official Superman of Metropolis:

NPR reports that the Belgian comic strip hero, Tintin, nets $1.3 million in different auction items, including two inked and watercolored panels from one of his adventures.

But, now for the good news:

NICKI SAID YES!  Congratulations to Lin Workman and Nicki Howe on their engagement!!

The USPS will be honoring WWII cartoonist, Bill Mauldin, with a stamp of his own.  See more on the USPS Website.  You’ll recall that Mauldin was also mentioned in many of Schulz’s Peanuts comic strips.
